25 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS EVIL : DAY 4 : CHRISTMAS EVIL

When you think of Christmas Horror films, Which, if you're me in quite often, your mind doesn't wander too far before it thinks of Troma release Christmas Evil. One of the more classic festive horror efforts, it sadly falls to a victim of somewhat misleading advertising. Presenting itself as a classic slasher in the vein of Halloween and Friday the 13th, what we actually get is something much closer to films like Henry Portrait Of A Serial Killer.

Scarred at young age by an incident at christmas as a child, involving his mother and a man in a santa claus outfit, who turns out to be his father, a toy factory worker, develops an unhealthy relationship with Christmas and as his christmas seems to worsen, he becomes obsessed with donning a red suit and beard and punishing those who are naughty.

The film has a very old school approach, but its a great and fun watch, oven if it does take itself a little too seriously for the subject matter involved. Its not the straight up slasher that its box art wants it to be, but it actually works on a very different level, much more psychological, and there are few kills, but the ones that are there are inventive enough to keep slasher fans happy, including an awesome cut throat with the star from a christmas tree. It has also been released under the title You Better Watch Out. However the most common release is the Troma version. Its well worth checking out.

Happy Horror Holidays

See You Tomorrow
