31 NIGHTS OF HALLOWEEN : NIGHT 3 : FRIDAY THE 13TH (1980)

Its no surprise that this lands on the list, especially considering the impact its had on me as filmmaker, fan and just about every other aspect if my life. Friday The 13th may have started life as a Halloween imitator, but its soon had a life of its own.

Strangely the staples of the Friday series don't appear in the original, and in some cases (namely the hockey mask) wouldn't appear till the second sequel some years later. However the whole film starts as the series goes on and when the final reveal comes it almost more of shock to be aware of the rest of the series.

Another independent production that made it big internationally and helped fuel the teen killing craze that took over the 80's. Some the later entries in the series got silly and some didn't even feature the killer, Jason, that we all came to know and love. But more on him later.

It's a slasher classic and still holds up as an overall scary movie, even in this modern age. Especially it's final 'you think it's all over moment' that is down in history as one of horrors greatest scares.

If you haven't seen it... Do.
